A curriculum that goes beyond the classroom
We want to create brighter tomorrows for all of our children and young people, regardless of their background or starting point. We ensure that our curriculum encompasses everything that is provided by schools, beginning with inspiring, high quality lessons.
We offer a wide range of opportunities to nurture talents and expose children to opportunities and experiences they might not otherwise have. This enables them to envisage their future steps and have the skills and aptitudes to engage fully with the opportunities that life presents.
Personal development is carefully planned through the curriculum of each academy to ensure that we are improving outcomes in the broadest sense, beyond the classroom. Our academies plan a wealth of trips, visits, clubs and opportunities for wider community involvement, including charitable fundraising initiatives.
We promote and support excellence in sporting achievement and performance in the arts, along with science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), as well as offering opportunities for leadership development. Through these opportunities, we enable our children to develop into responsible young adults who are able to play an active role in society and celebrate and embrace diversity and difference.
Our personal, social, health and economic (PSHE), relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education curricula, including life skills programmes such as ‘DARE’, are given a high priority. This ensures our children and young people learn how to keep themselves safe and well, and are able to develop positive relationships.
We recognise that emotional health and wellbeing is as important as physical health and academic achievement. We prioritise mental health by investing in family support workers and trained counsellors, along with delivering programmes such as ‘Take 5’ and ‘Thrive’. We also have trained mental health first aiders in all our academies.
Our academies have also attained a number of quality marks, which demonstrate how we embed an ethos of student enrichment. These include Investors in Pupils, School Games Mark, Unicef Rights Respecting, Healthy Schools and Eco Awards to name a few.
