Today, students across the Trust received their GCSE and Level 2 results, and were joined by teachers, colleagues, friends, and family to celebrate their achievements.

Student success stories

Across Diverse Academies there have been many outstanding individual success stories – here we share a few from across the Trust.

The Holgate Academy

This year’s top performing student was Isobel Davies, who achieved an incredible nine grade 9s and one grade 8 in her GCSEs. Isobel described receiving her results as ‘amazing’ and said: “It is such a relief to see my hard work pay off, I can’t wait to get started on my A levels.”

Another student achieving notable success was So Hang Lam, with six grade 9s (including full marks in maths), three grade 8s and a grade 6, she will be well prepared to continue her A level studies at Holgate’s sixth form. She commented: “Wow, I am so pleased, I am really looking forward to starting sixth form in September.”

Cole Askew also achieved superb results of six grade 9s, two grade 8s and two grade 7s. Cole said: “I’m really happy with my results, I can’t wat to start sixth form.”

There was much to celebrate for Nathan Cavill who was Holgate’s top performer for progress. He will be going on to study further maths, physics and electronics at college. Nathan said: “Solid stuff. Happy days!”

With two grade 9s, three grade 8s, two grade 7s, one grade 5 and a Distinction, Megan Truman said ‘the hard work paid off’ and she is fully set to start at college in the autumn.

Success for Jessica Obri-Yeboa means that she will be ready to continue her A level studies at Holgate’s sixth form come September. Jessica achieved an incredible two grade 9s, three grade 8s, two 7s, one 5, and a Distinction.

East Leake Academy

There were a number of notable individual successes this year at East Leake Academy. There were smiles all round for Georgia Simpson, who achieved brilliant results of nine grade 9s in her core subjects, plus geography, German, history and triple science. Georgia will now go on to study maths, further maths and chemistry at the academy’s sixth form and said: “I’m over the moon with my results and I want to thank all of my subject teachers.”

Another happy student today was James Slack, who achieved eight grade 9s including computer science, French, geography and triple science, with a grade 8 in English language. He will be continuing A level studies in maths, further maths, economics and physics at the academy’s sixth form, and said: “I couldn’t be happier right now.”

After collecting her results today, Madeleine Hallett will also be heading to East Leake’s sixth form this autumn to study media, English literature and history. Madeleine achieved six grade 9s including English language and literature, geography, history and media studies, and three grade 8s including art, maths and science. She commented: “I wish to thank all of my subject teachers – I am delighted with my results.”

Congratulations were also in order for Molly Garrett-Robinson, who made excellent progress during her time at East Leake Academy. Molly is moving on to study politics and business and said: “I am really happy with my results.”

Walton Academy

One student celebrating today at Walton was Archie Eagle, who was awarded three grade 9s, two grade 8s and a Distinction in sports science. Archie said: “I’m really happy with my GCSE results! I’m pleased to have received the grades I needed to continue studying at Walton post 16. It’s a dream come true, and I can’t wait to get started!”.

Another student who did incredibly well was Oliver Millard, who achieved two grade 9s in maths and further maths, a grade 8 in history and three grade 7s in geography, physics and chemistry. Oliver will continue his studies at Walton post 16 to study A level English, history, maths and further maths. He said: “It’s great because I know I’m on track to do exactly what I want to do. I’m very happy with my results!”

Delighted with his results and also returning to Walton post 16 was Charlie Tuck, who celebrated a great set of results with one grade 9, three grade 8s and a Distinction in music. Charlie said: “It’s hard to put into words, but I did better than I ever expected! The teachers were fantastic, and I’m so grateful for their support. I couldn’t have done it without them.” Charlie will further his studies at A levels in maths, further maths, drama and history.

Celebrations were also in order for Abigail Foote, who was awarded three grade 9s, a grade 8 in photography, a grade 8/7 in combined science, and a Distinction in health and social care. Abigail said: “I’m so happy and relieved that the wait is over! It feels great to finally have my results.”

Another student who did incredibly well was Destiny Ogbeta. Achieving one grade 9 in English literature, two grade 8s in English language and religious studies, and four grade 7s in combined science, maths and history. She will take up a place at Walton post 16 to further her studies. On receiving her results, Destiny commented: “I’m really excited about my results! I can’t wait to start at Walton Post 16 and see what’s next.”

Tuxford Academy

There were smiles all round for Ben Cook, who celebrated an outstanding set of results with nine grade 9s, one grade 8, and one grade 6. Full of joy Ben said: “Thank you to my teachers and family – I couldn’t have done it without them!” Ben is excited to return to Tuxford post 16 to continue his studies and is working towards studying medicine in the future.

Another happy student today was Maddie Howard achieving four grade 9s, three grade 8s and a grade 7. Maddie will be returning to Tuxford post 16 in the autumn term to study maths, biology and geography.

After collecting his results today, Griffith James was delighted with five grade 9s, two grade 8s, three grade 7s and a grade 5. He was awarded grade 9s in maths, biology, chemistry, physics and physical education. Griffith was ‘relieved’ the wait was over and is looking forward to returning to Tuxford post 16 to continue his studies and aims to attend university in the future.

Gabriel Horton-Ranscombe said he was ‘rationally terrified!’ ahead of results day and celebrated a fantastic set of results with three grade 9s in maths, physics and English language, three grade 8s and 5 grade 7s. Gabriel will be moving to Huddersfield for post 16 to study maths, further maths, physics and computer science.

Congratulations were also in order for Theo Scarborough who achieved a grade 9 in physics, four grade 8s in design and technology, maths, business and history. Theo said: “I’m very happy with the results.”

Queen Elizabeth’s Academy

Celebrating their results at Queen Elizabeth’s are twin brothers, Anthony and Joseph Joly, who together earned an impressive mix of grades, including a Distinction in drama each. Anthony and Joseph are eagerly looking forward to continuing their education side by side at West Notts College, where they will be studying A level biology, chemistry and psychology.

Brooke Lowe has proven herself to be an academic powerhouse, achieving an outstanding 9 in citizenship and photography, alongside an 8 in history and solid 6s in core subjects English language and maths. Brooke is eager to begin her studies at West Notts College, where she will pursue A level history, politics and law. Brook said: “I am so happy with my results, especially history, citizenship and maths. I am looking forward to starting at college.”

Liam Lambley, achieved grade 6 in maths and English literature, and a Distinction for health and social care, and is set to pursue early years education at West Notts College. Meanwhile, Rebecca Harrison, with results including grade 6 in English language and a Merit in drama, is excited to start an apprenticeship in hairdressing. Both are thrilled with their results, which exceeded their expectations.

Aleisha Davey has emerged as a standout achiever with impressive grades, including a 7 in English literature, a 6 in English language and a Distinction in engineering. Aleisha also excelled in triple science with two 6s, demonstrating her strong academic capabilities across a range of subjects. Aleisha’s passion for hands-on learning has already led her to start an apprenticeship in quality control, where she is thriving. “I am happy with my results – they are even better than I expected them to be.”

Isabelle Hill also celebrated a successful results day, with standout performances in history, where she achieved a 7, and a 6 in both English language and maths. “I am pleased with my results. They are what I expected to achieve.” Isabelle is excited to take the next step in her educational journey at High Pavement Sixth Form, where she will study A level psychology, sociology and criminology.

Retford Oaks Academy

And over at Retford Oaks, the celebrations continued with Olive Harris achieving a remarkable eight 9s and two 8s, securing a scholarship to Hill House School for her A level studies in biology, chemistry and history. Olive expressed her joy, saying: “I’m so thrilled with the results I got. I needed eight 8s for my scholarship and I’m really happy I achieved that.”

Adhm Mamoud Mohamed Abbas is among those also celebrating, achieving two 9s, two 8s, three 4s, and one 3. Adhm will be pursuing A levels in chemistry, maths and biology. Reflecting on his success, Adhm shared: “I’m really pleased, and my parents are pleased too.”

James Gascoyne also achieved notable results, with one 9, four 8s and three 6s. James will be studying physics, maths and art at New College Doncaster. He commented: “I’m feeling very happy!”

Sam Newbitt’s impressive results include four 8s, four 6s and one 5. Sam is excited to study A levels in maths, physics and chemistry. Summarising his feelings, Sam said: “To sum it up in one word I would say relieved!”
