Today we are delighted to announce that Yeoman Park Academy have been shortlisted for two awards at the upcoming Autism Professional Awards. Their inclusion on these shortlists highlights the exceptional work done for the students at the academy, and is a superb achievement.
Sharon Savage, who has worked at Yeoman Park for 32 years, has been shortlisted in the ‘Achievement an Individual Education Professional’ category, for her exceptional work in supporting our students in ‘The Base’, ensuring they get access to education and opportunities.
The brilliant work of the team in The Base has also led to them being shortlisted for the ‘Inspirational Education Provision – secondary and further’ award. The team are highly skilled in managing behaviour in a low stimulus environment, striving to get the very best outcomes for all students.
Sharon says of her nomination: “I am incredibly humbled to have been nominated and subsequently shortlisted. The team in The Base are very supportive of all students and of me – we are very passionate about our jobs and the work that we do for our students, so to be recognised for this work is a great honour.”
The awards ceremony, run by the National Autistic Society, will be held on 27 February 2020 at The International Convention Centre in Birmingham. Good luck to Sharon and to the team from The Base on the evening – look out for updates in the near future!
