Year 11 students across our Trust gathered with staff, family and classmates today to collect their GCSE results, celebrating this special milestone in their academic achievement.
Diverse Academies CEO, David Cotton, said: “Today, we celebrate the achievements of our year 11 students across our secondary academies, and I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to each and every one of them on their GCSE results.
“These outcomes are a testament to the determination, resilience and hard work our young people have shown throughout their studies. They also reflect the dedication of our staff and the invaluable support provided by parents and carers every step of the way.
“Behind every result lies a story of effort, commitment and perseverance. We are incredibly proud of how our students have embraced challenges and made the most of the opportunities available to them.
“As they take their next steps – whether into sixth form, further education, training, apprenticeships or employment – I am confident they have the skills, knowledge and ambition to succeed.
“On behalf of everyone across the Trust, I congratulate our students on all they have achieved and wish them every success and happiness in the exciting journey ahead.”
Student successes
We are very proud to share just a few highlights from this year’s results day, with notable individual success stories from across the Trust.
East Leake Academy
There were some fantastic results at East Leake Academy.
Exceptional results were awarded to David Slack who achieved an impressive seven 9s in biology, chemistry, physics, English literature, geography, maths and further maths. Joining David’s success is Imogen Jamieson who achieved three 9s in English language, German and history. Both David and Imogen will be taking up A levels at East Leake Academy sixth form from September and we wish them the best in their next steps.
Celebrations continue for Lorena Thorley and Emma Atkinson who both achieved fantastic results. Lorena is delighted with her six 9s for biology, business, chemistry, English language, English literature and media. Whilst Emma delights in 9s for biology and chemistry, and 8s in English language, literature and physics. Both Lorena and Emma will joining East Leake Academy sixth form from September to take up A levels.
Another pair celebrating is Abdhullah Hilmy and Jacob Widdowson. Abdullah is ecstatic with his two 9s in maths and physics and four 8s for English language, further maths, biology and computing. Jacob is proud to have achieved a grade 9 in maths and four 8s for biology, science, English literature and German. Jacob said: “I’m so pleased and really excited to start at sixth form in September.”
The Holgate Academy
There was an air of excitement at The Holgate Academy as students opened their results today.
Among those celebrating was Matt To, who achieved an impressive set of GCSE results, including eight grade 9s in Chinese, geography, maths, further maths, biology, chemistry, physics and computer science, two 7s and a grade 6. The results reflect the hard work and commitment he has shown throughout his time at The Holgate Academy. Matt said: “You get what you deserve.”
Years of dedication have paid off for Ryan Chun-Kit Fung, who celebrated achieving three grade 9s in biology, chemistry and physics, three 8s, three 7s and a grade 6. Ryan said: “It has been an anxious few weeks, but I’m so pleased with my results.”
For Julian Kiddy, today’s results have opened the door to an exciting next step. After achieving two grade 9s, two 8s, four 7s, a grade 6 and 4, he is now looking forward to study history, politics and geography at Holgate sixth form centre. Julian commented: “I am so pleased – I am looking forward to returning to sixth form in September.”
Tegan Foster is celebrating after achieving two 9s in French and biology, three 8s, three 7s and two grade 6s in her GCSEs. Reflecting on her achievement, she said: “Thank you so much, I am so pleased! I cannot wait to start college in September.”
There were plenty of reasons to celebrate for Noah Dallison, who achieved a grade 9 in history, Level 2 distinction in performing arts, 8 in English language, two 7s, a grade 6, two 5s and a grade 4. He was delighted with his results and said: “The hard work really did pay off, thank you so much.”
Queen Elizabeth’s Academy
Queen Elizabeth’s Academy was celebrating students’ hard work and determination.
Amongst the academy’s top achievers is Isabelle Ivanovs who achieved two grade 8s in English language and history, three 6s, two 5s and two merits. Isabelle will start her T level in health science from September, saying: “I’m so pleased that all my revision paid off!”
Another success story comes from Amelia Sikora who achieved a grade 9 in GCSE Polish, an 8 in fine art, five 7s, and a grade 6. Commenting on her results, Amelia said: “I am delighted to see that my hard work has paid off!” Amelia’s next steps are to study economics, politics and history at A level.
Joining in Amelia’s celebrations is close friend and fellow student, Olivia Sharpe, who secured a grade 6 in English literature, two 5s and two 4s. Excited about post 16 studies, Olivia will go on to study music in September.
Another success story is Katie Plackett who is celebrating a grade 7, grade 6, three 5s and two 4s. Happy with her results, Katie said: “The results are what I wanted, especially in maths.” Katie has a passion and love for creative arts and will be studying dance and musical theatre from September.
Other standout results include Toni Newbury who achieved a grade 8 in history, two 7s in English language and religious studies, six 6s, a distinction and two merits. Delighted with her results, Toni added: “Today has started great with my qualifications. I have a job interview this afternoon too.” We wish Toni all the best in her interview and in her future studies.
Ella Thornley is also celebrating a great set of results with a grade 6, three 5s and three 4s. Ella is delighted to be progressing in her education, commenting: “The results are what I expected and I am very happy with them. I’m looking forward to this next chapter.”
Retford Oaks Academy
Celebrations were abound at Retford Oaks Academy.
Among the many individual successes celebrated were twin brothers Zach and Louis Evans, who both achieved an exceptional set of results.
Zach secured a grade 9 in art, eight grade 8s across subjects including maths, science and English, alongside a Level 2 merit in music. Louis achieved an impressive grade 9 in maths, 8 in further maths, as well as Level 2 distinctions in hospitality and catering and sport science, five grade 7s and a grade 6. Zach said: “Even better than I expected, a lot of late nights but it’s all paid off.” Louis added: “Overall I’m very happy, especially with my maths grade. We’re going out for a meal tonight to celebrate.”
Kas Chan also had plenty to celebrate, with his determination and resilience rewarded with four grade 9s in Chinese, maths, chemistry and physics, along with three 8s and a grade 7. Reflecting on his achievement, he said: “I’m happy with my results, especially Chinese! I didn’t expect a 9 at all.”
Further success came from Jennifer Cawdron-Hurt, who achieved three grade 9s in maths, biology and physics, three 8s and two 7s. Jennifer said: “I was really hoping for a 9 in maths as I’ve been a few marks off all year, so I’m very happy I got it!”
Lucy Huxley was another student to achieve excellent results this year, securing three 9s in biology, chemistry and physics, two 8s, a grade 6 and two Level 2 distinctions. Looking ahead, she said: “I’m really happy and proud of myself. I’m staying at Retford Oaks sixth form to study biology, chemistry and maths, possibly physics too.”
Tuxford Academy
Tuxford students were thrilled with their results.
Among this year’s top achievers is Jacob Alambritis who achieved six 9s for maths, further maths, biology, chemistry, physics and business studies. Overjoyed with his results, Jacob collected his results with a spring in his step, saying: “I bought this shirt especially for results day.” Jacob will be staying on at Tuxford Academy to study A levels in maths, further maths, biology and chemistry.
Other great results came from Adam Lewis and Hermione Allen who both achieved 9s in chemistry, with Adam also receiving a 9 in maths and four 8s for physics, further maths, biology and geography. Hermione’s hard work has resulted in her achieving five 8s for biology, physics, maths, history and psychology. Adam and Hermione will be attending Tuxford Post 16 from September to study A level biology, chemistry and maths, saying: “We are so excited for the next steps in our academic career.”
Sarah Woodcock secured impressive results with three 9s including biology, physics and maths, as well as six 8s for chemistry, further maths, German, business studies and English literature. Delighted with her results, Sarah said: “All of my hard work has paid off. I’m excited for what’s to come!”
Another set of excellent academic results come from Meri Scholefield. Meri has been awarded two 9s for biology and maths, two 8s for chemistry and physics, and six 7s. Surprised with her results, Meri said: “I am still in shock, but I would like to say thank you to all the staff at Tuxford Academy.” Meri will continue studying at Tuxford Academy in September, choosing maths, further maths and physics A levels.
Another cause for celebration was Jacob Brackenbury whose dedication resulted in him achieving a grade 9 in history and three grade 8s. Reflecting on his results, Jacob said: “I’ll be returning to Tuxford for A levels. I’d like to thank all my teachers who supported me during my GCSEs.”
Other standout results include Lydia Mosley, who achieved four 8s, two 7s, and a distinction, and Kieran Walker, who secured six 8s and two 7s. Both Lydia and Kieran will take up A levels at Tuxford Post 16 in September, commenting: “We’re very proud of ourselves for getting through the exams and happy with the results.”
The academy also praised Egor Khimickenko for their excellent progress during their time at Tuxford. Egor’s results include four 8s in biology, physics, maths and business studies. Egor will progress to A level maths, economics and business studies at Tuxford Post 16 next month.
Walton Academy
Students at Walton Academy were filled with joy at their results.
Today was a particularly special moment for Rithara Bethmage, who celebrated achieving a grade 9, Distinction*, two grade 8s, two 7s, two 6s and a grade 5. Rithara will be continuing her studies at Walton post 16 and said: “I’m really happy with my results and so pleased that I can now go on to study the subjects I’ve chosen at Walton post 16. My teachers have given me so much support.”
With his sights firmly set on the future, Ismael Mohammed Hassan is celebrating a strong set of GCSE results, including a grade 9, four 8s, two 7s and three 5s. He will now continue his education at Walton post 16, where he will study maths, further maths, physics and chemistry. Ismael commented: “I’m really pleased and very happy with my results. It’s been stressful at times and I’ve worked hard but it was definitely worth it.”
Santana Goodall is celebrating after achieving a grade 9, three 8s, two 7s, two 6s and a grade 5. He said: “I did a lot better than I thought I would. I worked really hard, especially in science. I’ve applied to join the Royal Navy as an aerospace engineer and I’ve got my interview next week. I’m really excited about what comes next.”
There were plenty of reasons to celebrate for Artemy Sokolovs, who achieved three grade 9s, two 8s three 6s, a grade 4 and a pass. He was delighted with his results saying: “I’m surprised – they’re better than I expected. I’ve tried to be consistent and disciplined with my work this year, and that’s paid off. I’m staying at Walton for post 16 to study physics, maths, further maths and chemistry.”
Success for Mia Howe means that she will be ready to continue her Level 3 studies at Walton post 16 this September. Mia achieved a grade 9, one 8, one 7, four 6s and a grade 5. She said: “I’m honestly so happy and a bit emotional. I’m staying at Walton for post 16, so it feels great to be able to carry on here for the next stage.”
