Ian taught physics for nearly 40 years, the last 18 years as a headteacher across four state schools in the south of England. Ian gained an MA in education leadership early in his career and was proud to have research published and to be part of the inaugural ‘accelerated’ headship qualification cohort. A keen advocate of the academy trust model, Ian held a number of system leadership roles until taking phased retirement alongside consultancy positions.
He currently serves as a volunteer panellist for the Teacher Regulation Agency, whose role is to uphold the highest standards of conduct within the teaching profession.
Ian’s family made the decision to move home to North Nottinghamshire to ‘have an adventure’ and are very much enjoying being part of a community whose members take care of each other. He now has time to attend many more rock concerts, visit with his family the places and galleries he was too busy to do while working and have a shorter journey to support his beloved football team.
