At Diverse Academies Trust, we’re proud to offer an inspiring and fully funded three-week teaching internship programme across several of our secondary academies. If you’re exploring the idea of becoming a teacher, this is the perfect opportunity to experience the profession first-hand.
Alongside a tax-free bursary of up to £1,365, you’ll gain a unique insight into what it’s really like to work in education developing your skills, building your confidence, and discovering whether teaching is the career for you.
Who is eligible to apply?
- You are studying a STEM-related degree. Subjects include Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Computing, Modern Foreign Languages and Design and Technology.
- You are an undergraduate student in your second year or above, or a master’s student. Please be aware if you are a master’s student, we only have a limited number of places on our internship available.
- You have not already applied for an Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme and have not already taken part in a DFE funded teaching internship.
- You are able to complete the 3-week internship in June/July 2026.
- You have the right to work in the UK.
If you are an international student, check your visa as many student visas allow you to work 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during holidays. Unfortunately, if you are an international student and do not have a current UK visa we are unable to support your application.
What you will experience
Our programme is designed to give you meaningful, hands-on experience, including:
- Shadowing educational professionals and lesson observations with the potential to deliver a session(s).
- Opportunities to network with qualified subject specialists.
- Getting involved in wider school life, including trips and extra-curricular activities.
- Conversations with experienced teachers and leaders about key areas such as behaviour, safeguarding and SEND provision.
- Opportunities to complete a project presentation which will be presented to other interns.
Where you can complete your internship
You can complete an internship at any of our six secondary academies based in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
