Governance

Governors form a crucial part of an academy’s success, offering peer support and challenge to leadership teams. Our governors are highly valued and encouraged to work closely with us, defining academy vision and direction alongside those that lead and manage them.

As a charity and company limited by guarantee, our Trust Board ensures that all legal and statutory responsibilities are carried out, and sets the overall strategic direction for Diverse Academies.

Each academy has an Academy Committee whose governors’ oversee academy improvement, performance and identity. These committees work closely with their Executive Principal and Principal to monitor the day-to-day running of the academy, ensuring the improvement plan is carried out to the highest standards. Each Academy Committee feeds directly into the Governance and Partnership Board Sub-committee.

The Trust Board meets twice termly, chaired by Mike Quigley, a highly experienced governor and retired company director. Mike has been a governor at various schools for over 30 years. He has also served as a local councillor for more than 20 years and is involved in a number of local charities including being chairman of the trustees of Bassetlaw Hospice.
